Lesson 1 > Grammar > Sentence

A complete sentence is a group of words which:

–   Begins with a capital letter

–   Includes an end mark – either a period [ . ], question mark [ ? ] or exclamation point [ ! ]

–   Contains a subject and a verb expressing a complete thought

–   Can be in positive, negative or question pattern

Examples:

–   The boy climbed a tree.

–   What do you do on Saturday afternoons?

–   I cannot believe that you did not sleep last night!

A complete sentence is made up of Subject, Verb and Object. Some sentences do not need an object and are made up of Subject and Verb.
