Have you ever received a reviewer’s comments like these?

۱) Your paper has poor structure.

۲) The English is too poor.

۳) The English is not sufficient for the peer review process, or the language and structure are so poor that the merit cannot be assessed.

But, you are sure the grammar is correct!

What is the main reason?

The fact is that your structure is wrong! Your paper will be rejected!

In @TOEFL class, we teach you an important part of the English language, called “collocation”.

What is a collocation?

A collocation is a pair or group of words that are often used together.

These combinations sound natural to native speakers, but students of English have to make a special effort to learn them because they are often difficult to guess.

Some combinations just sound ‘wrong’ to native speakers of English.

Examples :

True: fast car
False: quick car

True: fast food
False: quick food

True: quick meal
False: fast meal

True: quick glance
False: fast glance
