Learning roots, prefixes and suffixes helps you have the tools needed for decoding difficult words and breaking down unfamiliar words into segments that are easily understood.

root : equ, equi, iqu

meaning : equal

Examples :

Part 1

equal
the same in size, value, amount

equate
to consider that one thing is the same as something else

equation
a statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal

Part 2

equator
imaginary line dividing the northern and southern hemispheres into equal parts

equinox
one of the two times in a year when day and night are equal in length everywhere

equatorial
relating to the equator, or near the equator

Part 3

equity
the quality of being fair and impartial ( im + partial#Lesson_27 )

inequity
lack of fairness ( in + equity #Lesson_27 )

equitable
treating everyone equally and fairly

inequitable
not equally fair to everyone ( in + equitable #Lesson_27 )

equiangular
having all angles the same size

equilateral
having all sides the same length ( equilateral triangle )

equidistant
( He wants to be equidistant from both political parties. )

equivalent
identical, same, similar, comparable, corresponding

equivalence
the condition of being equivalent in value

equilibrium
a balance between opposing forces, influences ; mental or emotional balance

equable
not easily disturbed or angered ; tranquil ; steady (an equable climate)

equanimity
self-possession ; calmness in a difficult situation

equivocal
ambiguous, doubtful nature or character

unequivocal
obvious

equivocate
use ambiguous language in order to avoid giving a clear or direct answer

equalize
to make two or more things the same in size, value, amount

equality
the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.

iniquitous
very unfair and morally wrong (an iniquitous tax)

coequal
having the same rank or importance
